Senior living has certainly changed over the past decade. An industry that once provided very little hands-on care has blossomed into a wonderful option for older adults. It now provides varying levels of assistance with residents’ activities of daily living, while arranging many opportunities for socialization and community. I am fortunate to work for Arrow Senior Living leading the Vitalia Active Adult Community – Montrose team. I would like to share a little about my journey to becoming a senior living leader.

I was working as an Executive Chef at a local restaurant when approached by an Executive Director of an assisted living community. She asked if I had ever considered working in senior living. At that time, senior living was not even a thought I had in mind for a career path. I took a chance, and now almost 20 years later, it was one to the best decisions I have made.
I continue to stay in senior living because of the relations I have made over the years, with both the residents and their families. I want to continue supporting seniors with being as independent as possible. Arrow Senior Living provides a culture that offers their employees and residents the ability to feel included and part of the solution.
In the coming months and years, I feel the industry is going to have a major change in the thought process of what has worked and what won’t work moving forward. Technology will play a big role in the services provided.
If someone is considering a career in senior living management, I say, take a chance, it is one to the most rewarding careers they could experience.
Arrow Senior Living and I invite you to reach out and learn more about a career in senior living. Working in this industry can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. Whether you’re interested in caregiving, management, or another aspect of senior living, there are a wide variety of roles available that allow you to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults and their families.
VITALIA® Montrose serves and employs individuals of all faiths, regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age or handicap, except as limited by state and federal law.
