Men’s Health Month was created in 1992 to raise awareness of the importance of proper screenings, early detection, and obtaining regular medical advice for men and to encourage young men to implement self-care and a healthy lifestyle. Studies show a significant difference between the health of men and the health of women, as men are less likely to seek treatment for preventable diseases.
I feel there are several barriers to men seeking treatment. They often have too much pride and neglect their health because “they don’t need help.” Men may struggle to define and express their mental health challenges and are more likely to self-medicate before seeking help. Symptoms of depression may present differently in men.
Here are simple changes that can be made to create a healthy lifestyle for men’s health:

They should practice healthy eating to help prevent, delay, and manage heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Regular physical activity, avoiding too much alcohol, getting screened, and enough sleep are all important, as is having an open mind.
