Each year, I select a Word of the Year to guide my personal and professional intentions. As the Executive Director at Vitalia Montrose in Copley, Ohio, the start of a new year provides the perfect opportunity to reset, refocus, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Reflecting on 2024, I’m truly amazed at how much my Word of the Year influenced my growth and leadership journey.
My Word of the Year for 2024 was accountability. This focus shaped my decisions, relationships, and personal growth throughout the year. By prioritizing accountability, I built stronger relationships with department heads, fostering collaboration and trust. This strengthened our ability to make better business decisions and enhanced team productivity across the board.
Embracing accountability also helped me grow as a leader. It encouraged me to take responsibility for my actions while inspiring the team to do the same. This shared commitment created a culture of trust, reliability, and teamwork within our community.
The lessons from accountability will continue to guide my approach in 2025. Having established a foundation of responsibility, the next step is to sustain progress and ensure we remain on the right path.
As I look ahead to 2025, my Word of the Year is consistency. This word reflects the importance of maintaining steady progress in leadership, team dynamics, and community success. Consistency will help solidify the gains made in 2024, ensuring we continue to grow and thrive together.
Consistency represents more than just routine—it’s about building trust through reliable actions, fostering stability, and creating an environment where both residents and team members can excel. By staying consistent, we can achieve our long-term goals while reinforcing a culture of dependability and support.
